It’s difficult to put into words that which could possible describe the transparent, intangible feeling of knowing I am in the presence of God. I do know that feeling. I have experienced the palpable presence of Christ near me, with me, in me. I know that I am not the first one, last one, or only one to have had these sort of encounters. If only we could ‘bottle’ that experience and remain in that zone where God is permeating around me and through me in a real way, much like I can feel the wind blowing on my cheek on a warm summer’s day.
Recently, I have placed my life fully in the hands of God. Sure, there are days when I stray from that because I get lost in the distractions of the world. I had often thought that, because I believed in God and tried my hardest to follow all that He proclaimed, I was living in His way. Well, I finally got hit over the head with a sledgehammer one too many times by His hand and finally decided to listen to His call. I have had enough years of selective hearing.
I consider myself extremely fortunate that I have been resurrected from the valley of death. I have dwelt in the caves of hopelessness. Like Lazarus, I have been lifted from this grave, emotionally empty existence. I believe negative, challenging circumstances occur in our lives to allow for the greater good. Some of us are fortunate enough, through the grace and glory of God, to bare witness to the greater good. For some, never do they see the fruits of their labors. It is imperative for those of thus that have seen the good out of bad to proclaim God’s love, mercy, and forgiveness.
Today I have recognized the greater good, the mercy, love, and forgiveness of God, in my life. Certain things happen that may go unnoticed by many, but if we can see the big picture, somehow remember that moment in our lives when we thought, ‘why is this happening to me?’, and finally recognize the glory of God’s presence and work in our life, we will all bare witness to the truth. Jesus is the truth. He is present. We only have to open our eyes, ears, and heart to appreciate what He does for our lives. If we are committed to Him, His light will shine for us.
